Vision, Mission & History

Our vision

FECCIWA works through its members towards a West Africa where peace is sustainable, human rights are recognised, people have a say in decisions affecting them and every citizen can participate in the region's prosperity.

Our mission

Jesus Christ represents the total involvement of God in the universe. It is God through Christ who has called us as Christians to follow Him in God's continuing work of creation and re-creation. In our social justice advocacy role, we believe in Christ’s life, suffering, death on the cross and resurrection, and that all humanity with its agonies and struggles is judged, liberated and redeemed by Christ Jesus.

Our history

In 1992 the national Christian councils of The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia and Nigeria met to reflect on how national councils and churches could be mobilised to address the causes of hunger and poverty, violation of human rights, injustice and armed conflicts. In 1994 FECCIWA was established to provide a forum for Christian councils and churches in West Africa to address these issues and to facilitate and promote programs to tackle their root causes.
